  • Systematic review of 29 clinical series (1998-2008) involving 1073 patients.
  • Analysis focused on operative time, clamping time, conversion rates, hospital stay, morbidity, and mortality.

  • Hand-assisted laparoscopic surgery (HALS) demonstrated shorter operative times.
  • Postoperative mortality was 2.1%; conversion to open surgery occurred in 8.1% of cases.
  • Hospital stay ranged from 4 to 10 days, irrespective of the laparoscopic technique used.

Conclusions:
