Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the relationship between heart rate variability (HRV) and psychological states of anxiety and depressiveness in healthy subjects.
  • To assess autonomic responsiveness during cognitive tasks.

Main Methods:

  • Measured heart rate (HR) and HRV (high-frequency and low-frequency components) in 43 healthy adults at rest and during a cognitive task (random number generation).
  • Utilized State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) and Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) for psychological assessment.
  • Analyzed task-related changes in HRV and HR using time series analysis (MemCalc).

Main Results:

  • No significant correlation between resting HR/HRV and psychological scores.
