Abstract:
Uranium(VI) is quantitatively extracted from aqueous perchlorate media into dioctyl sulphoxide in 1,2-dichloroethane. The extracted species contains four sulphoxides for each uranium. Most other metal ions are not appreciably extracted. On columns containing a solid support impregnated with dioctyl sulphoxide in 1,2-dichloroethane, uranium(VI) may be separated quantitatively from metal ions such as thorium(IV), zincronium(IV) and rare carths(III).
