Abstract:
Spectral studies of a series of 7-hydroxycoumarins substituted at positions 3 and 4 with methyl and phenyl groups are reported. Rates of ring opening in 0.7M potassium hydroxide at 25.5 degrees have been determined fluorometrically, and rate constants and half-lives are reported.
