Abstract:
A series of acid-base indicators in acetonitrile has been studied. Their chromaticity coordinates, pK(a) values, transition pH ranges, pH of maximum colour change, optimum concentration for titration, and quality of colour change in acetonitrile have been determined, together with the effect of ionic strength on their properties. Various bases and their mixtures have been titrated to test the practical usefulness of the indicators.
