Abstract:
The catalytic polarographic determination of selenium(IV) by use of the SeSO(2-)(3) -KIO(3) system is sensitive, accurate, rapid and requires only small quantities of sample. The detection limit for selenium(IV) is 0.04 ng/ml in the final solution. The working range of the calibration is 0.04-2.5 ng/ml. Se(VI) present can be reduced with hot hydrochloric acid to Se(IV), allowing determination of the total selenium.
