Primary bladder adenocarcinoma, a rare cancer, was diagnosed in a 74-year-old female. Radical cystectomy offers the best survival chance for this condition.

Area of Science:

  • Uro-oncology
  • Surgical Oncology

Background:

  • Primary bladder adenocarcinoma is an exceptionally rare malignancy.
  • This study reviews the literature and presents a unique clinical case.

Observation:

  • A 74-year-old female presented with gross hematuria.
  • Diagnostic workup, including imaging and cystoscopy, revealed invasive adenocarcinoma.
  • Gynecologic origin was excluded, and anterior pelvic exenteration was performed.

Findings:

  • The final pathology confirmed primary bladder adenocarcinoma, staged pT3aN0.
  • The patient showed no disease progression or complications at 6-month follow-up.

Implications:

  • Primary bladder adenocarcinoma has a poor response to chemotherapy and radiotherapy compared to urothelial carcinoma.
