- Surgical release of the right internal and external carotid artery and resection of the right greater cornu of the hyoid bone were performed.
- One year post-treatment, the patient remained asymptomatic.
- Color duplex scans confirmed no residual stenosis of the right carotid artery.
Implications:
- The hyoid bone can cause carotid artery entrapment and TIAs.
- Individual anatomy plays a role in carotid vessel vulnerability.
- Provocative maneuvers may aid diagnosis in cases of suspected non-stenotic carotid artery compression.
