Upper GI abscess formation and intramural hemorrhage: sequelae from possible gastric perforation

The definition of an abscess is, "a localized collection of pus caused by suppuration in a tissue, organ or confined space." Pyogenic bacteria that invade the tissue are responsible for this inflammatory response. The following case study demonstrates such a response via an unusual presentation of upper gastrointestinal bleeding.
