Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To establish normative data for the electrically evoked vestibulo-ocular reflex (EVOR) in humans.
  • To investigate the characteristics of EVOR in response to varying electrical stimulus frequencies.

Main Methods:

  • Ten human subjects received sinusoidal electrical stimuli (0.0125–0.8 Hz, 4 mA) via mastoid electrodes.
  • Horizontal eye movements were recorded using an infrared limbus-tracking device.
  • Subjects also underwent rotational stimulation for comparison with the conventional vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR).
