[School hygiene today. Problems known for a century are still relevant]
Abstract:
Current hygiene problems in school hygiene are reported and compared with those a century ago. The main problems stated by teachers, parents and pupils are poor indoor air quality due to insufficient cleaning and ventilation, unsatisfactory cleaning of classrooms and sanitary tracts because of small financial budgets, broken and ruined lavatories due to poor service, incomplete routine maintenance and vandalism. All these topics have been well known for more than 100 years. Instead of building schools with sophisticated or expensive technical equipment, schools with friendly and robust equipment without complicated technology needing intensive maintenance are mandatory. However, all these measures will only be successful in obtaining good hygiene standards in schools, if basic rules of good hygiene practice are respected and followed (again), pupils and teachers take responsibility for their schools and prevent vandalism. Both are mandatory.
