Summary

Late cochlear implantation can enable pre-lingually deaf individuals to transition to oral communication. Prior exposure to oral language structures, like cued speech, positively impacts this conversion.

  • Outcomes assessed included hearing thresholds, phoneme identification, auditory performance, speech intelligibility, and communication mode changes post-implantation.
