Summary
Genotyping Streptococcus mutans using arbitrary primers polymerase chain reaction (PCR) revealed distinct bacterial genotypes in saliva. Primers OPA 02, 03, 05, and 13 proved effective for identifying S. mutans genotypes in adult volunteers.
