Summary

Minimally invasive total knee replacement (MIS) offers better postoperative pain relief and improved function compared to standard techniques. This systematic review found no significant differences in complication rates or implant positioning for MIS knee surgery.

    • No significant differences were observed in complication rates or implant position between MIS and standard techniques.
    • Meta-regression analysis indicated no influence of surgical navigation on the evaluated endpoints.

    Conclusions:

    • Minimally invasive total knee replacement is associated with improved postoperative pain and function.
    • MIS TKR does not increase the risk of complications or compromise implant accuracy compared to standard approaches.
