High levels of inspired carbon dioxide (FICO2) significantly impair successful resuscitation from cardiac arrest in rats. Even with adequate oxygenation, a FICO2 of 0.5 prevented resuscitation, highlighting the detrimental effects of hypercarbic acidosis.
