Pro-inflammatory cytokines like TNF-alpha and IL-6, and NT-proBNP are elevated in dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) patients. Lower levels correlate with left ventricular (LV) function recovery, suggesting their use as prognostic biomarkers.

- Elevated levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), interleukin-6 (IL-6), their soluble receptors, and N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) are noted in dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM).
- The role of these inflammatory markers in relation to left ventricular (LV) function recovery in DCM remains to be fully elucidated.
Purpose of the Study:
- To investigate the association between pro-inflammatory cytokines, their soluble receptors, and NT-proBNP levels with LV function recovery in DCM patients.
- To determine if these markers can serve as prognostic indicators for DCM patients.

- Forty DCM patients were categorized into two groups: those with no LVEF recovery (n=30) and those with LVEF recovery (n=10).
- Ten healthy individuals served as controls.

Main Results:
- Significantly increased levels of TNF-alpha, IL-6, TNFR1, TNFRII, gp130, and NT-proBNP were observed in DCM patients without LVEF recovery compared to those with recovery.
- These inflammatory markers and NT-proBNP were significantly lower in DCM patients who achieved LVEF recovery.
Conclusions:
- Circulating levels of TNF-alpha, IL-6, and NT-proBNP are correlated with left ventricular function recovery in DCM patients.
- These biomarkers show potential for predicting prognosis in DCM.
