Can protein contamination be removed from hand endodontic instruments?

Pre-sterilization cleaning of hand endodontic files is crucial for protein removal. A presoak in Alkazyme followed by a Miele G7881 washer-disinfector proved most effective for cleaning contaminated dental instruments.
