Summary

The transitional double-bundle anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction using hamstring tendons shows good clinical outcomes. This anatomical ACL reconstruction technique resulted in a high percentage of normal or nearly normal knee function in patients post-surgery.

  • Postoperative evaluation at ≥24 months included the IKDC Knee Examination Form and KT-2000 arthrometer for anterior laxity.
  • Main Results:

    • Subjective IKDC grading: 41% normal, 53% nearly normal, 5% abnormal, 1% graft rupture.
    • Mean anterior laxity side-to-side difference was 0.9 mm (±1.2 mm) with KT-2000.
    • 93% of patients exhibited anterior laxity between -1 mm and 2 mm.

    Conclusions:

    • The transitional double-bundle ACL reconstruction technique provides satisfactory clinical outcomes.
    • This anatomical reconstruction method demonstrates good knee stability and function in short-term follow-up.
    • The procedure is a viable option for achieving anatomical ACL reconstruction.
