Abstract:
Osteoradionecrosis is a common postirradiation complication of head and neck cancer treatment. It occurs predominantly in the mandible. The development of osteoradionecrosis is slow and can persist for a long time. No etiological treatment is found because the pathogenesis of the diseases is not clear. Resection of the lesion is the common option for most patients. The quality of life of the patients is impaired because of the defect of the soft and osseous tissues in head and neck. This review focused on the research advances in the pathogenesis, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the osteoradionecrosis.
