Individuals with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) exhibit distinct adipose tissue (AT) distribution, characterized by less subcutaneous AT (SAT) and more visceral AT (VAT) and intermuscular AT (IMAT) compared to healthy individuals. This altered AT distribution may exacerbate insulin resistance.
