Factors affecting urethral stricture development after radical retropubic prostatectomy

Early catheter removal after prostatectomy, indicating faster healing of the urethrovesical anastomosis, significantly reduces the risk of urethral stricture formation. Delayed removal correlates with higher stricture rates.

Conclusions:
- Early healing of the vesico-urethral anastomosis is key.
- Facilitating early catheter removal can decrease the incidence of urethral strictures post-prostatectomy.
