Summary

Preterm infants with respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) show impaired non-nutritive suck (NNS) abilities. Oxygen therapy and severe RDS significantly degrade NNS performance, potentially delaying oral development.

  • Sampled NNS compression waveforms from 55 preterm infants using an instrumented pacifier.
