This case study suggests risperidone may improve hyperacusis (sound sensitivity) in children with autism. Symptoms improved with the medication and returned upon discontinuation, indicating a potential therapeutic effect.

  • Discontinuation of risperidone led to the reappearance of hyperacusis.
  • A re-challenge with risperidone resulted in symptom improvement, supporting its potential efficacy.
