The Verbal Fluency Test (VFT) is a key neuropsychological tool for assessing frontal and temporal lobe function.
Research on children's VFT performance and normative data, especially for Polish children, is limited.

Purpose:

To analyze the quality and quantity of VFT performance in children.
To establish statistical interpretations of VFT results based on age and diagnosis.
To explore VFT's utility in pediatric neurology.

Summary:

This study analyzed VFT performance in 80 children (ages 6-17) diagnosed with epilepsy or headache.
Results indicate VFT primarily assesses executive functions, with performance linked to category switching, age, and gender.
Children with headaches outperformed those with epilepsy.

Impact:

The VFT, when interpreted qualitatively, is valuable for differential diagnosis in children.
