Summary

This study reports a rare case of intracardiac ectopic thyroid adenoma successfully removed from the heart. Follow-up confirmed normal thyroid function and patient health, marking a first in China.

  • Intracardiac ectopic thyroid tissue is an exceptionally rare congenital anomaly.

Observation:

  • A case of ectopic thyroid adenoma originating from the right ventricular septum and extending into the right ventricular outflow tract is presented.
  • Surgical excision was performed successfully.

Findings:

  • The patient maintained normal thyroid function post-excision.
  • Clinical status remained good at the 12-month follow-up.

Implications:

  • This case represents the first reported instance of intracardiac ectopic thyroid adenoma in China.
  • Successful surgical management highlights a potential treatment for this rare cardiac anomaly.
