Coryneform bacteria are gram-positive, aerobic, nonmotile rods that exhibit irregular, club-shaped, or V-shaped arrangements. A modified Mitis-Salivalius Bacitracin (MSB) agar medium, termed mMSB-kit, demonstrates superior sensitivity for detecting Mutans streptococci (MS) compared to standard methods and commercial kits. This enhanced detection aids in evaluating caries risk more effectively.
