Summary

The European Association of Tissue Banks (EATB) Donor Case Workshop facilitates peer-reviewed discussions of clinical donor cases. This participative learning model, established in 2003, is shared to benefit broader tissue banking practices and other scientific disciplines.

Tissue banking and transplantation science.

Background:

The European Association of Tissue Banks (EATB) established an annual Donor Case Workshop in 2003.
This workshop serves as a platform for peer review and discussion of clinical donor cases within the EATB Congress program.

Observation:

The 2007 workshop's experience was identified for publication to exemplify participative learning.
The value of sharing these case discussions was recognized for extending to other tissue banking fields and potentially other disciplines.

Findings:

Publication of the 2007 EATB Donor Case Workshop experience demonstrates a successful model for participative learning in tissue banking.
The workshop format allows for critical evaluation and enhancement of clinical donor case management practices.

Implications:

The participative learning model from the Donor Case Workshop can be extended to various fields within tissue banking.
This approach has potential applicability in other scientific and medical disciplines requiring case-based peer review.
Future EATB Congresses will expand this workshop concept to include Quality System and heart valve cases.
