[Arnald of Vilanova, a medieval medical scholar]
1Caring Institution for the Aged Hisui-no-Sato.
Abstract:
The life and medical writings of Arnald of Vilanova are reviewed. He studied and taught medicine at the Montpellier Medical School. His academic career seems to have been partially related to his being a Catalan. He wrote much on medicine, theology, scholastic philosophy and religious faith, and as a court physician he served the Aragon-Catalonian Royalty and the Popes. Recent research has suggested the possibility that some of his medical writings were apocryphal.
