  • Eight subjects performed treadmill exercises at controlled speeds and gradients while sEMG of the anterior tibial (AT) and gastrocnemius (GC) muscles and ECG were recorded.
  • Increased speed significantly elevated RMS in both AT and GC muscles. Increased gradient raised RMS in GC but showed a decreasing trend in AT.
  • Median frequency (MF) and mean power frequency (MPF) were lowest during a specific sport (B) and increased with higher intensity, indicating sensitivity to muscle stress. Heart rate (HR) increased significantly with workload, while the standard deviation of normal to normal intervals (SDNN) decreased. Borg scores correlated positively with increased speed and gradient.

Impact:

  • Root mean square (RMS) and heart rate (HR) are identified as reliable indicators for assessing overall dynamic workload.
  • Median frequency (MF) and mean power frequency (MPF) demonstrate higher sensitivity in detecting physiological stress responses to dynamic workloads.
