Abstract:
The article explores basic concepts and issues of economics in healthcare, and illuminates, by example, those IT projects which have had a positive economic impact and need to be more widely supported and rapidly implemented across the industry. The intention is to stimulate thought about the role of IT and medical informatics in some less traditional projects which support these basic economic principles and can move healthcare toward a more value-based model.
