Background:

Chronic locked posterior shoulder dislocation often necessitates humeral head replacement.
Arthroplasty is the primary surgical intervention for severely damaged humeral heads in this condition.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the midterm outcomes of shoulder arthroplasty in patients with chronic locked posterior shoulder dislocation.
To assess the impact of previous surgeries, pain, and symptom duration on functional outcomes.

Main Methods:

Retrospective review of 12 shoulder arthroplasties in 11 patients (1999-2005).
Follow-up averaged 37.4 months, with Constant Score (CS) and range of motion assessments.
Correlation analysis was performed using Pearson's coefficient.

The procedure effectively enhances range of motion and patient satisfaction.
Pre-existing factors like prior surgeries and symptom chronicity negatively influence functional outcomes.
