Background:

A novel dermal overlap subareolar mastopexy technique was initially reported in 2001.
This study evaluates modifications and outcomes of this technique.

Purpose of the Study:

To report on a series of 117 patients who underwent subareolar mastopexy using a modified technique.
To describe modifications to the original dermal overlap subareolar mastopexy procedure.

Main Methods:

The technique involves precise preoperative markings for areola repositioning.
Dissection in the subdermal plane facilitates flap elevation and overlap for mastopexy.
Procedures may include breast reduction or implant placement, with closure using purse-string sutures.

Main Results:

The modified technique yielded satisfactory outcomes with minimal complications.
Observed benefits include reduced areolar stretching and enhanced nipple-areolar projection.
Results were superior to conventional doughnut mastopexy in specific aspects.

Conclusions:

The described subareolar mastopexy technique offers excellent results for scar minimization.
It is suitable for patients accepting partial ptosis correction for reduced scarring.
The degree of ptosis correction is less pronounced than with vertical or anchor mastopexy.
