Summary

Laser lipolysis for fat removal did not significantly alter serum lipid profiles in patients. Cholesterol and triglyceride levels remained within normal ranges post-procedure, suggesting gradual fat elimination or apoptosis of adipocytes.

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate changes in serum lipid profiles after laser lipolysis.
  • To assess lipid level alterations at multiple time points post-procedure.

Main Methods:

  • Four patients underwent laser lipolysis on hips using a 980-nm diode laser.
  • Fasting blood samples were collected pre-procedure and at 1 day, 3 days, 2 weeks, and 1 month post-procedure.
  • Standard lipid profiles (total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides) were analyzed.

Main Results:

  • Serum cholesterol and triglyceride levels remained within normal ranges following laser lipolysis.
  • No significant adverse changes in lipid profiles were observed.

Conclusions:

  • Gradual fat elimination may prevent measurable increases in circulating lipids.
  • Adipocyte apoptosis and subsequent phagocytosis by macrophages are potential mechanisms for lipid homeostasis.
