OC-125 immunostaining in endometriotic lesion samples

Background:

• Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory condition affecting women of reproductive age.
• The severity of endometriosis ranges from minimal/mild to moderate/severe.

Purpose of the Study:

• To investigate the presence of OC-125 staining in endometriotic lesions.
• To determine if OC-125 staining correlates with the stage of endometriosis.

• Histopathological analysis and immunohistochemistry were performed on excised endometriotic lesions.
• Thirteen patients from family planning (Group I) and 53 from chronic pelvic pain clinics (Group II) were studied.
• OC-125 staining was assessed in all samples.

• All Group I patients had minimal/mild endometriosis with negative OC-125 staining.
• In Group II, 39.6% had minimal/mild and 60.4% had moderate/severe endometriosis.

Conclusions:

• OC-125 antibody staining appears to be associated with endometriosis activity.
• The presence and intensity of OC-125 staining may correlate with the progression and severity of endometriosis.
• OC-125 could serve as a potential indicator for endometriosis staging and activity.
