Optimized Management of Endovascular Treatment for Acute Ischemic Stroke

Purpose of the Study:

  • To determine the efficacy and safety of Mailuoning in treating patients with acute ischemic stroke.

Main Methods:

  • Searched multiple databases for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) up to January 2008.
  • Included RCTs comparing Mailuoning with placebo or other treatments for acute ischemic stroke.
  • Two reviewers independently selected trials, assessed quality, and extracted data.

Main Results:

  • Fifteen trials with 1280 participants were included.
  • Analysis of 14 lower-quality trials suggested Mailuoning improved neurological deficit (RR 0.30; 95% CI 0.22 to 0.42).
  • One high-quality placebo-controlled trial found no significant improvement in neurological deficit or daily activities.

Conclusions:

  • No convincing evidence supports routine Mailuoning use for stroke recovery based on high-quality trials.
  • High-quality, large-scale RCTs are necessary to confirm Mailuoning's efficacy.
