IHF-binding sites inhibit DNA loop formation and transcription initiation

Integration host factor (IHF) facilitates DNA looping for sigma(54)-dependent transcription. This study reveals IHF releases a communication block caused by its own binding site, enhancing DNA looping and transcription frequency.
