Does diabetes accelerate progression of calcific aortic stenosis?

Diabetes accelerates calcific aortic valve stenosis (CAS) progression in patients with moderate baseline CAS. Statins did not influence CAS advancement in this study.

- Diabetes mellitus is associated with faster progression of calcific aortic valve stenosis in patients with moderate baseline disease.
- Statin therapy does not appear to modify the progression of CAS.
