Summary

Complete talus dislocation, a rare foot and ankle injury, is increasingly seen post-motor vehicle accidents. This case study details successful immediate primary repair of an open, total talus extrusion.

The ankle is formed by the talocrural joint (crural = leg). It consists of the articulations between the talus bone of the foot and the distal ends of the tibia and fibula of the leg. A patient presented with an open, complete talus dislocation following a motor vehicle accident.
The injury involved total extrusion of the talus bone.
Immediate primary repair was considered for treatment.

Findings:

The case highlights the feasibility of immediate primary repair for open, complete talus dislocation.
Successful management of this rare injury was achieved through prompt surgical intervention.
