[Lung transplantation in Washington University]

Since the introduction of lung transplantation in 1983 by JD Cooper, the technical aspects of the procedure and the indication for lung transplantation have been refined and the success rate has steadily improved. He moved from Toronto to St. Louis in 1988 and established a new lung transplantation program in Washington University. The author had an opportunity to work with him for two years as a research fellow. The recent topics of lung transplantation in Washington University have been introduced and discussed.
