[Experimental research on the relationship between GATA-3 and ICAM-1 in patients with allergic rhinitis]

Objective:
To explore the relationship between GATA-3 and ICAM-1 in patients with allergic rhinitis.
Method:
The expression of GATA-3 was detected by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) in 37 patients with allergic rhinitis and 12 controls. ICAM-1 was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.
Result:
The relative density ratio of GATA-3 to GAPDH in AR patients was 0.632 +/- 0.121, and in control group was 0.131 +/- 0.024. The concentrations of ICAM-1 were (237.5 +/- 37.3) pg/mg and (121.7 +/- 22.4) pg/mg in the two groups respectively. The expression of GATA-3 was positively correlated to the expression of ICAM-1 in patients with allergic rhinitis.
Conclusion:
The overexpression of GATA-3 in patients with allergic rhinitis was related to the increase of ICAM-1. GATA-3 may play an important role in the pathogenesis of allergic rhinitis.
