Orbital lipomas are rare tumors. Cytogenetic analysis of orbital lipoma revealed chromosome 12 abnormalities, aiding in distinguishing these tumors from normal orbital fat.

Findings:

  • Cytogenetic analysis of the excised orbital lipoma revealed abnormalities of chromosome 12.
  • These chromosomal abnormalities are consistent with those found in lipomas in other body locations.

Implications:

  • Cytogenetic analysis can be a valuable tool for differentiating orbital lipomas from normal orbital fat.
  • This finding may improve diagnostic accuracy and guide treatment strategies for orbital lipomatous lesions.
