Summary

Primary carcinoid tumors of the liver are rare. Complete surgical resection, confirmed by histopathology, is recommended for successful management and disease-free survival.

  • Biopsy confirmed carcinoid tumor; the patient received radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
  • Re-evaluation identified the lesion as a primary liver carcinoid tumor, distinct from the pancreas, enabling complete resection upon relaparotomy.

Findings:

  • Histopathological confirmation of neuroendocrine origin and exclusion of extrahepatic primary tumors are crucial for diagnosing primary liver carcinoid.
