Association between ApoE epsilon4 and cognitive impairment after stroke

The apolipoprotein E epsilon4 allele (ApoE ε4) is a significant risk factor for early cognitive impairment following a stroke. This genetic factor, along with stroke severity and pre-existing cognitive decline, contributes to post-stroke cognitive deficits.

- Early identification of ApoE ε4 carriers may aid in predicting cognitive outcomes post-stroke.
