[Treatment methods of diabetes mellitus in old age--personal experiences]

The authors of this study have analyzed treatment protocols of 2210 patients (age: 75+ years suffering from diabetes, including residents of two geographical areas in Czechoslovakia, urban, one rural. They have found that 37.7% of those studied only maintain a diabetic diet, 50% take oral preparations, and 12.3% insulin injection. The study also includes a detailed analysis of various therapeutic procedures and a statistical evaluation of differences in their application, comparing male and female patients, and also both geographical groups.
