Abstract:
With the development of technology in genomic science, genetic analysis in cardiovascular medicine is becoming comprehensive rapidly. As most of cardiovascular diseases are common disease, common variants associated with the disease should be examined. Genome-wide association studies will provide the answer with us in near future. On the other hand, monogenic disease such as cardiomyopathy and long QT syndrome is caused by a genetic mutation, which should be identified in the pedigree with disease. As well as the identification of the genetic factors, the analysis on the genotype-phenotype relevance is of great clinical value. Importantly, knowledge gleaned from the genetic studies also shows promise for understanding the disease-mechanism.
