LA group (112 patients) showed significantly shorter hospital stays (4.1 vs. 7.2 days) and faster return to diet, activity, and work compared to OA (108 patients).
LA resulted in fewer wound infections (0 vs. 14), intra-abdominal abscesses (2 vs. 9), and overall complications.
Operating time and billed charges were comparable between LA and OA groups.

Conclusions:

Laparoscopic appendectomy is a valuable treatment for acute appendicitis, offering minimal invasiveness and better cosmetic results.
LA is associated with a lower complication rate and can be recommended for routine appendicitis management.
Surgical expertise and advanced equipment enhance LA outcomes.
