Area of Science:

  • Otorhinolaryngology
  • Ophthalmology
  • Dermatology

Background:

  • Nasolabial cysts are uncommon soft tissue lesions.
  • Dacryocystitis is an infection of the nasolacrimal sac.
  • Association between nasolabial cysts and dacryocystitis is rarely reported.

Observation:

  • This case report details a female patient.
  • The patient presented with bilateral nasolabial cysts.
  • She also had a history of epiphora (watery eye).

Findings:

  • The patient exhibited bilateral nasolabial cysts.
  • Longstanding epiphora was a significant symptom.
  • This presentation suggests a potential link between these conditions.

Implications:

  • This case expands the understanding of nasolabial cyst presentations.
  • It underscores the importance of considering dacryocystitis in patients with nasolabial cysts and epiphora.
  • Further research may elucidate the pathophysiology of this association.
