Summary

Transient ischemic attacks (TIAs) require careful management. The ABCD2 score alone is insufficient for predicting stroke risk, as some patients with low scores still experience strokes. Adding hypertension and hyperglycemia history improves prediction.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To independently validate the predictive accuracy of the ABCD and ABCD2 scores for stroke risk after TIA.
  • To assess the impact of adding hypertension and hyperglycemia to the ABCD2 score for improved stroke prediction.

  • Utilized data from the Rochester Stroke and Transient Ischemic Attack Registry (N=284).
