  • Match analysis included technique count, effort duration, rest periods (RPs), and interval between high-intensity movements (HM).
  • Main Results:

    • Post-match LA averaged 7.5 ± 3.8 mmol/L, HR was 183 ± 9 bpm, and HM was 31 ± 16 seconds.
    • Mean effort time (8 ± 2s) was similar to mean interval time (8 ± 3s).
    • Winners used fewer techniques, but post-match LA and HR did not differ significantly from non-winners.

    Conclusions:

    • Glycolytic metabolism is not the primary energy source in Songahm Taekwondo.
    • Physiological responses and energy demands do not significantly differentiate between winners and non-winners.
    • Training should prioritize high-intensity movements with extended rest for creatine phosphate recovery, focusing on technical quality over technique volume.
