Insights
Coronary ostial stenosis, a rare complication after the Bentall procedure, was successfully diagnosed using coronary computed tomography angiography. Percutaneous coronary interventions provided effective treatment for this condition.
Area of Science:
- Cardiovascular Surgery
- Interventional Cardiology
- Radiology
Background:
- The Bentall procedure is a complex surgical technique for aortic root and valve replacement.
- Coronary ostial stenosis is an uncommon but serious complication following this procedure.
Observation:
- A patient developed symptoms indicative of coronary ostial stenosis post-Bentall procedure.
- Coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) was utilized for diagnostic imaging.
Findings:
- CCTA accurately identified significant stenosis at the coronary ostia.
- Successful treatment was achieved through percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI).
Implications:
- This case highlights the utility of CCTA in diagnosing post-Bentall coronary ostial stenosis.
- PCI represents a viable therapeutic option for managing this complication, potentially avoiding further surgery.
Abstract:
Coronary ostial stenosis is a rare complication of the Bentall procedure for aortic root and aortic valve replacement. We report a case of coronary ostial stenosis after a Bentall procedure that was detected by coronary computed tomography angiography and subsequent percutaneous coronary interventions.

Pulmonary Angiogram
A Pulmonary Angiogram is an invasive procedure involving injecting a contrast medium through a catheter threaded into the pulmonary artery or the right side of the heart to visualize the pulmonary vasculature. Computed Tomography (CT) scans have mainly replaced this...
